Is the hourglass timer free?
Yes, it is completely free with no ads blocking the timer, no sign-up and no limits.
How does the physical flip work?
On supported phones it reads the device orientation; turning the device upside down flips the hourglass. On iOS you tap 'Enable motion' once to grant permission. Desktops without a sensor simply use tap-to-flip.
Will my screen stay on?
While the timer is running it requests a screen wake lock so your display won't sleep. This is supported on most modern browsers over HTTPS and degrades silently otherwise.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The tool is a browser-based Canvas app and can be installed as a PWA, so it keeps working without an internet connection.
Can I change the sand color?
Yes, open Settings and pick from gold, blue, red or green sand. The app also adapts to dark mode automatically.
